Jean (Carpenter) McGinty

Soulsbyville resident Jean McGinty died April 20 at her home. She was 66.?

Mrs. McGinty was born in Oakland to Robert and Louise Carpenter.

She was a research administrator in molecular biology at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla for 10 years.

She moved to Soulsbyville seven years ago.

Mrs. McGinty was a member of Sierra Foothill Women?s Club, the American Association of University Women, Friends of Children United Society in San Diego, and was on the board of directors for the Performance Handicap Racing Fleet. She was commodore of the Coronado Cays Yacht Club in 2005.

She enjoyed reading, playing mahjong, sailing, cooking and visiting the family cabin at Pinecrest Lake.

Mrs. McGinty was preceded in death by her father, Robert Carpenter; and her mother and stepfather, Louise and Bill Rowland.

She is survived by her husband 25 years, Michael McGinty, of Soulsbyville; and sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Ted Fallas, of Sonora.

Services will be held at a later date.

Zachary Solomon Orman

Former Murphys resident Zachary Orman died in a paragliding accident April 7 in Tucson, Ariz. He was 28.

Mr. Orman was born in Merced to Rodger and Holly Orman and grew up in Murphys.?

He graduated from Bret Harte High School, and later from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a degree in neurobiology.

Mr. Orman worked for Yosemite Search and Rescue and on ski patrol at Bear Valley, Northstar and Sugar Bowl ski areas.

He was in this third year attending University of Arizona Medical School, from which his father had graduated, and achieved honors in all rotations.

He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and received the AOA Gold Award for Humanism.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Orman is survived by a sister, Emily Orman, of Murphys; girlfriend, Becca Dennis, of Tucson; grandparents, Bernie and Betty Orman, and Marvin and Dinah Taub, all of Tucson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calaveras Big Trees State Park group campsite, 1170 Highway 4, Arnold.

Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson handled arrangements.

Jerry Lee Wilcox Jr.

Sept. 26, 1967 ? April 21, 2013

Tuolumne resident Jerry Lee Wilcox Jr. died of a heart attack April 21 in Manteca. He was 45.

Mr. Wilcox was born in Antioch to Tina Louise Wilcox and Jerry Lee Wilcox Sr.

He moved to Tuolumne County to work at a greenhouse, where he met his future wife, Maria deJesus Martinez.

He most recently worked as a surveillance technician for Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Gaming Agency at Black Oak Casino.

Mr. Wilcox was a member of the National Rifle Association and served on the board of Habitat for Humanity.

He enjoyed barbecuing, golfing, guns, music, cars, and attending NASCAR races, Ultimate Fighting Championships, concerts and movies.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.

Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife of 25 years, Maria deJesus Wilcox, of Tuolumne; children, Mark Lee Wilcox and Jessica Marie Wilcox, both of Tuolumne; parents, Tina Louise Dickinson and Jerry Wilcox Sr., both of Antioch; grandparents, Virgie and John Wilcox, of Juno, Alaska; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Tuolumne Veterans Memorial Hall, 18375 Fir Ave., Tuolumne.

Barbara Theresa ?Bobby? (Lind) Worth

Sonora resident Barbara Theresa ?Bobby? (Lind) Worth died April 25 at Avalon Care Center in Sonora. She was 85.

Mrs. Worth was born in Chicago to Joseph Lind and Theresa (Jung) Lind.

She married Joseph ?Babe? Worth in 1944 and moved to Concord with family in 1956, where she spent her life as a homemaker. ?

The couple moved to Sonora in 1976 where she continued her life as homemaker while working on-and-off at the Tuolumne County Recorder?s Office.

She was a volunteer for St. Patrick?s Parish, Interfaith Community Social Services, Tuolumne County Senior Center and Busy Bees in Sonora.

Mrs. Worth enjoyed camping and traveling, and had travelled throughout the United States and other countries, including Spain, Portugal, Germany and the Caribbean Islands.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph ?Babe? Worth, in 2009; her parents; and sisters, Sue Wegryn and Helen Klicpera.

Mrs. Worth is survived by her children and their spouses, Susan and Dan Weidel, of Asheville, N.C., Barbara and Jon Rush, of Helena, Mont., Thomas Worth, of Vacaville, Christine and Champ Clark, of Vacaville, Theresa and Robert Johnson, of Valley Springs, Patty Worth, of Couer d?Alene, Idaho, and Pamela and Brian Bowman, of Jamestown; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick?s Church, 127 W. Jackson St., Sonora.
